Drum Conditioners ( Massagers)

When drums of dry powder become interlocked through road transport, heat, humidity or simply over time, it becomes difficult to produce material flow, or sometimes any flow at all. METO Systems drum conditioners are used to squeeze flexible walled drums to break up packed or solidified material.

Manufactured from 304 stainless steel, this unit is fully pneumatic, no hydraulics, and no electrical requirements. It is equipped with a manual turntable to hold the drums, floor locks, two-handed controls for safe operation, and four abrasion-resistant polyurethane wheels to allow for easy maneuverability. The METO Systems drum conditioner is applicable in warehouse environments, GMP areas, hazardous locations, or simply anywhere on site with an air supply.

The drum, box, or bag must be lifted and placed onto the manual turntable. The unit then applies pressure through horizontal and vertical bars, with the drum, box or bag’s internal liner still tied and the lid still attached. Four, 2.5” air cylinders then generate up to 1600 pounds of crushing force to apply pressure evenly yet through multiple points of contact over the drum surface.

The manual turntable on the standard unit can be used for plastic and fiber drums ranging from 12” to 36” in height, and 12” to 24” in diameter; cardboard boxes ranging from 12” to 24” in square base area, and 12” to 36” in height ; and multi-ply paper or plastic bags ranging from 12” to 36” in height.

  • A pedestal design with two, stationary, half-ring pairs with adjustable height.
  • Four pneumatic cylinders squeeze the drum between the two ring halves. Adjustable compression pressure force via a pressure regulator.
  • Two-handed operating push-buttons with emergency stop release. Release of either push-button unclamps the device.
  • Designed to break crusted or lumpy, dry powders and provide free flowing product from the drum to downstream equipment.
  • Pneumatically powered, with a variety of crushing bar options designed to meet the needs of your specific operating condition and environment.
  • The standard unit can be modified to have an open front (no turntable) to accommodate drums still on their dollies.
  • A stationary pass-through conveyor design consisting of eight pneumatic cylinders (four on each pedestal), and two pedestals (one on each side of the conveyor), all centered around a mechanical turntable allows for a batch processing conveyor system.
