It is significantly affecting the milling defect, respectively the potential oil yield. State‐of‐the‐art roller maintenance tools use the grinding principle. While grinding itself  smoothens the surface, it does NOT remove roughness. On the other hand, turning can remove the roughness and provide surface smoothness necessary for the efficient processing of the oilseeds. Therefore turning is a better maintenance procedure for flake roll maintenance. After eight years of development, the WASUFI, as a unique flake roller maintenance tool for in‐site turning, is commercially available and already in more than 8 oilmills operations.
